GS650 Fungus 8th June 2006 - Heeerrreee's Jonny !
It's a topsy-turvy world at Motoeuro, eh kids ? Just as John flogs the R1200GS and is bike-less for Motoeuro he pulls this out the bag. Found it on the GS Forum for sale, (powered by Rotax and not BM) so here is the result of a bit of E-mail haggling and that burning feeling in John's wallet...... Looks near-mint, and with so many extras it is a deal and a half alright. Even better news is the the seller is just round the corner.... In Peterborough. Grief, he picks them eh ?

John's 2003 F650GS comes with....
- ABS - HEATED GRIPS - AUXILIARY SOCKET - DAKAR SCREEN
- TOURATECH TANK BAG - TOURATECH BEAK EXTENDER - REMUS CANS
- WUNDERLICH TAIL PACK - BMW VARIO PANNIERS - TKC80 TYRES
- CHAIN GUARD - BMW ENGINE BARS

Not bad eh ? More pix posted as they come in.....

3 June 2006
Ok, it's my own fault for not doing this earlier, but in fairness, 3 weeks before M&S can even look at my bike is just not on. (Goes in on 20th June!) I was about as welcome as a slug in a saltbath the other morning when I called in to the always cheery service centre at M&S in Newcastle.
I only need.... Head bearings checked, new front tyre fitted, new spring fitted to the centre stand and shocker checked over, oh, and my chain is at max adjustment so need a link removed ! Oh for Christ sake.... Anyone fancy putting Motoeuro off by a week ? Oh, the shame.... Chance of going 5/1

At least I have a bike. Should think myself lucky as the ever prepared Crocodile Dundee John has got to sell his GS and buy another bike that needs major mechanical attention. Also, change the ferry for the new registration number and EuroCover, Breakdown, alter insurance..... Walk in the park if you ask me. Pleased the Harrisons didn’t leave it to the last minute. Chance of going 25/1....Sing along now..... "I see trees of green, red roses too...."

Smug git Mark, is on his way back from sunnier places. With a two week holiday now over, he'll be returning to his R1150GS which will probably need...er.... Nothing done. Steve's also I the smug camp as his bike is 99% ready too. That's if he has got the fork seals....

News: May 2006

It's official
Jock's Buell is a write off. Just Harleys reckon there is damage to too many parts that would justify a fix. So Jock is waiting for a settlement figure, he's hoping for £7k which would funnily enough give him enough change from a Speed Triple for 20 smokes.... More as we hear. Clumpy is doing well, fingers crossed for 6th June when he finds out if he is mending propper.

Speaking of Buells....... Mark's love for the Ulysses has driven him to the point of adultery to his 1150GS. Off to Just Harleys to give it a whirl.... Its no big surprise that the Buell really is massive, it's a good size for Marks as he is so bloody tall but anyone under 8 ft 5" will have bovva. Off to the beach - and off road (!), Marks gives the poor Ulysses some grief and and falls head-over-heals for...... his 1150GS ! Oh yes, Mark isn't impressed. Best we could get out of him was it was too 'quirky' and the fuel injection or transmission was just naff. So then, wanna 1200GS ???. Minta !

Ulysses is not for Mark

Let's go, Mondo Enduro ! Let's go, Mondo Enduro ! Let's go, Mondo Enduro !
For those who don’t know, Mondo is the story of 7 lads going round the world (44,000 miles) on DR350's. Fantastic DVD of the trip where the boys cook their own food, camp every night and do it all on $2,500 each. Christ, we wouldn't get out of Tesco car park....

Buy the Mondo book at Amazon £9.80 Or, Ripping Yarns have it for £15.00 - In stock.

Anyway, the distributers are offering a FREE Mondo booklet in celebration for the launch of the book by mad-biker Austin Vince. Simply send a SAE to:- Aimimage - Mondo Enduro Booklet, Unit 5, 63 Pratt St. London. NW1 0BY. You can buy Mondo and their second trip, Terra Circa by clicking HERE. It's the best £15 you'll ever spend and afterwards, you'll be selling that 150bhp sports bike and buying a 30bhp, single. Hang on a minute......

This leads me nicely to John.....His R1200GS is up for sale, it's yours for £7,995 saving about £800 on new with heated grips, alarm etc. Having said that John is sick to death of the BM's finish, overall build quality and shit transmission. As I type, John Clark in Dundee are fitting new cylinder heads and a new swing-arm due the the corrosion from winter, about £2,000 worth of kit on a bike that's only 5 months old. WOT ?

John is after a simpler life so a F650GS somewhere has his name on it. (See what I mean about Mondo ?) All in all, the F650GS is not really a true BMW, it's a got a Rotax engine and transmission which is loads better than BM's efforts. Ok, it's a single, ok it's 60bhp, but throw a couple of bags on it and it will probably go round the world too - mind you with John's luck getting to ASDA is more realistic....

Stace and the MT03 Stace has been bitten by the bug of 'never-happy bike ownership' too..... He's been looking at an Yam MT03 but it's too small and by all accounts, the attitude of the local Yam dealer doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. The KTM has seen some issues of late, mostly done under warranty but the hair-line crack in the frame isn't good news. Having said that, it's another warranty claim so let's make it KTM's problem. BASTARDS. Funny though, but now the KTM has a new gel seat - it's far comfier so big miles wont be an issue now.

bad day Man down....4th May 2006
Oh bastards. As Jock sits at home with his leg in the air, its hard to get excited about Motoeuro 2006 the latest news is that he could be looking at 2 months before he is riding again. You can thank a compound fracture for that. Motoeuro snoops get pix of hospital X-rays, Click here to view it.

All Motoeuro members are sincerely thanked by our Scottish friend for moving the departure date to 24th June rather than the 10th, lets hope this is long enough for his ankle to heal properly. This gives 'clumpy' 8 weeks.... Jock is currently trying to find a large microwave so we can get better quicker. Should be done in 4-8 minutes.
un dead Site feedback from unknown viewer....

Dear MotoEuro Editor,

Please see attached picture obviously taken in a very sunny and hot country. I am concerned that some of your members are actually 'UnDead'. Really, inviting these sort of folk along is irresponsible and frankly dangerous. The Undead are obviously going to take bigger risks when riding, possibly causing us 'living' folk to get into dangerous situations. I would very much like to be part of your fun little club... but only once you have purged such undesirables - sending them back to where they belong.

Please advise when the club is Zombie free. Looking forward to your reply,

Yours
Captain Suntan (Daylight Division)

Millau Viaduct Motoeuro news 15th April 2006 - A bridge too far....
Grab a copy of this months Bike Mag as they head off to Millau, How cool is that then ? Worth £3.80 ? Nahhhh, but if you happen to be in Tesco's free library, then have a read..... Also, first review of the Deauville and CBF1000, both bikes do rather well - no big surprise as new bikes usually do. Give it 12 months and we'll see....... Go buy it as I cant be arsed to scan, PDF and up-load the images for you lot.
Steves new lid Steve's shiny new helmet....
"Stay on target...stay on target....." 'Red Leader' pays only £160 for this true enduro-style lid, but whichever way you look at it, that's 16 private dances at the Strip Club or 70 pints...... Or roughly 35 packs of fags..... Or.... doesn't matter. He's also got the Cagiva booked in for new fork seals, chain and sprockets in preparation for Motoeuro 2006

John's sorted... Well, for now anyway.
You just don't realise how good something is until it's gone. This is true of John's GS. After test riding the Deauville and new CBF1000, John's back with his true love the GS1200. All said and done the Deauville is too heavy and a wee bit under powered, the CBF is too new to be fully rated. Also, it's half faired you can tell by just looking at pictures of it that all the road crud will weld to those nice shiny pipes... It'll look crap very quickly we fink. Clunky box he can live with, Jury's still out on reliability.....

3rd April 2006 Ladies and Gentlemen... Ringside at fight-night...
In the Blue corner, the mighty R1200GS, the red corner welcomes the brand new Honda CBF1000 and in the neutral grey corner, the re-vamped Honda Deuaville 700...... Round one....(ding)... Oh and what to do. Torn between bikes, the love triangle or a different kind..... Put briefly, pro's and 'cos on these suspects:-

GS1200: Massively irritating clutch and crap transmission makes it impossible to zoop through traffic and city centres. Questionable build quality and many owners reporting too many reliability issues "it's not a question of IF it will break-down, it's WHEN will it break-down....."

Honda CBF1000: Great value at only £6,000 new, but it could be reported that it's too bland and perhaps it's "just another bike" No real features to boast about. It's heavy, with an average centre of gravity, no charm or character, however, re-tuned Fireblade engine gives good top-end and midrange too (100BHP). Better in town with slick clutch. Not a great riding position and no luggage available yet either.

Honda Deauville 700: Re-designed for 2006 with extra power, yet still this mini-Pan-European pumps out only 68BHP. Is this enough for a 230kg bike ? We suspect not. Far better than the '05 model, it's been re-styled too and with a shaft final drive it's a winner for John. Can it cut the trifle ? Nice for 60mph but it might not fair well at speed and not exactly knee-down material. Dull ? Perhaps. Practical ? Oh, yes. Fun and exciting ? TBA...

News: March 2007

March 24th 2006
In the delay of getting the new site on line a few bits to report..... John still can't decide weather to go for a new CBF1000 or stick with the GS1200, arguably the build quality and reliability issues still haunt the GS1200 which is sits uncomfortably on a £9,000 machine.

No deposits in for Motoeuro 2006.
Why am I not surprised ? We really should get a move on and get the bloody ferry booked or we will miss the special offers. By the way, suggestions for Motoeuro 2006 - 2nd trip include Spain, Napoleon Route in France and John's sensible suggestion of through Norway to the Arctic Circle..... I will be sipping Margaritas in the afternoon sun while you lot freeze your bollox off in Norway. Have fun.

Stace is thinking of getting a MT01 so the KTM is up for sale...... Can anyone lend Dave £4k with 0% APR and no payments for the first 10 years ? Also available in leather too, offer ends this Saturday...err.......ter.......
